Just wanted to give a super quick update from our first day in Hong Kong. When the trip is complete and we get back to Vietnam, I will post a full, detailed trip report, but while we are on the trip itself I will just post a few snippets to keep up with what we are doing.
We started off the day with a trip up the Victoria Peak funicular, where we were rewarded with clear skies and the ever insane view of downtown Hong Kong. We could see Kowloon, and even China itself off in the distance. 2nd funicular in 2015 for us, which is always nice for the inner train nut in myself. |
After wandering around on the Peak, taking photos, shopping, and doing some mild hiking, we went back down and went over to the SoHo/Mid-levels Area, which was heartily recommended to us by our friends Kathy & Justin, and Andrea & James. Lots of good shopping, and delicious food at Taco Loco.
After that it was back to the Central area and more downtown wandering. Hong Kong is a dizzying vertical landscape, a forest of towers and steel. For someone who grew up in the wilds of Colorado it is quite a shock to visit and see. Well worth it, though!
Tonight we went over to Causeway Bay, one of the many shopping and dining areas on Hong Kong Island. Took some pictures but will upload them soon. Tomorrow we are going to try and go on a nice hike across the island, by hiking up one stream, going over the top, and then down another stream on the other side. Found a nice hiking guide to HK on the internet and got a route plugged into the phone to guide us, it should be fun! Thanks for looking and stay tuned! |
