The town of Crested Butte, Colorado is surrounded by the high peaks of the Elk Range, and the waters and snowmelt draining off those peaks have exposed some nice sections of slate bedrock, creating a handful of kayak runs that are well known amongst the experts kayakers in the state, and even around the country. Although there are quite a number of different boatable reaches, the main focus is on what's known as the "Quadruple Crown", which is the nickname given to the most popular of the bunch- Oh-be-joyful and Daisy Creeks, and the Slate and East Rivers. Other runs have kayak-able stretches on them, but those four are the most well known in the area. The pages above will try and provide a loose guide to the various stretches that the Crested Butte area has to offer. While I will try to provide some limited beta, as with any boating mission, you should outreach and get current beta before a mission to any one of these!
