"Roadhouse" Canyon
A short canyon located at the extreme northern end of Lake Powell. In this area the mighty Colorado River is joined by the much smaller Dirty Devil River, in a sea of Cedar Mesa Sandstone. In the triangle of land formed by the two watercourses and Utah SH 95, there is a short slot that can provide an hour or two of entertainment to those passing through the area.
The canyon is about a mile long, and contains several short sections of slots and narrows. There is a little bit of everything in here, most of it on a small, friendly scale. There are tighter, more intimate slots, more wide, "covered wagon" narrows, potholes, dryfalls, and subway sections. It gets deeper as you go along, and the only real obstacle is a dryfall of about ~25' that can be bypassed several ways, depending on your comfort level of exposure.

Near the end of the slot there is a short section of potholes that can be stemmed over, and then a neat chamber that can produce fun acoustics. We called this the "Ricochet Chamber" because it is fun to through rocks between the walls here. Shortly below the canyon opens up and the high water mark (and accompanying trash) from Lake Powell comes into view. Don't go all the way to the Dirty Devil as you will end up in some thick quicksand-like mud. To make it back to the car exit on the north side of the canyon and walk over the mesas back to the highway and your car.
